Teeth whitening is becoming an increasingly popular cosmetic improvement procedure that can be done at-home (DIY style), or at your dentist’s office. If you’ve had one tooth, multiple teeth or all of your teeth replaced – dental implants and natural teeth deserve your attention and care.

Can Implant Crowns Be Whitened?

Why are your teeth yellow?

Aside from genetics, there are many factors that play a part in what your teeth look like. Eating certain foods, consuming sugary drinks, and your overall oral hygiene influence the way your mouth looks and feels. Enamel and dentin play the biggest role in what colour your teeth are.

Can my implant crowns be whitened?

The good news is yes, they can, but they usually don’t need to be. Since dental implants are made from a different material as your natural teeth, they don’t discolour the same way the teeth you grew do. This is why it’s a good idea to have teeth whitening before you get dental implants; that way your dental surgeon can match the implant crown to your white teeth.

At Thornhill Smile Centre, we offer three levels of whitening:

    • Basic myWhitening

Customized home trays with a supply of Whitening Gel. Usual treatment time is 7-10 days.

    • Upgraded myWhitening

One hour in office Opalescence Boost whitening followed by customized home trays guarantees dramatic results.

    • Extreme myWhitening

Initial Opalescence Boost whitening followed by 14 days of customized home trays. The treatment is completed on the 15th day with one hour of Opalescence Boost, for your whitest smile.

To keep your teeth white using natural ingredients – you can try one of these:

  • Baking soda and fresh lemon juice paste
  • Salt, baking soda and strawberry scrub
  • Coconut oil rinse

There are many natural ways to keep your teeth white at home, as well as whitening treatments available at your dentist’s office.

It is safe to whiten your natural teeth or replacement dental implant crowns, but speak with your dentist about the best timing and type of procedure available for you. The dedicated staff at Thornhill Smile Centre and Dr. Hagi will provide you with your whitest smile that will give you improved self confidence and the smile of your dreams.
