Will I need to take special care of my implants?

Treat your dental implants like you would your natural teeth — with care and good hygiene. You will not need to spend substantial time on a complex care and maintenance routine after implants. Periodic check-ups are a must and so are regular brushing and waterpik use. Implants may be susceptible to inflammation as well as bone loss if you let plaque accumulate unchecked. Keep your gum tissue and teeth in good condition with regular and proper care and you significantly improve the success rate of the procedure.

Do I need to keep visiting you monthly for maintenance of the implants?

Not necessary, however, it is true that maintaining your new implants in good shape ensures that you can enjoy a life time of problem free peak performance from them. An ideal dental visit schedule would be to drop in at our clinic twice every year for a thorough cleaning of the bridges. It ensures that they last long and it also improves the stability of your implants. If you are worrying about the cost of your repeated visits to us, we have a package for maintenance of implants that gives you optimum care for a reduced price. Keep in mind that you should get the periodic cleaning and maintenance done by an experienced dentist who is familiar with the All-on-4 technique.

Is there a chance that food will get caught under the bridge?

Yes, this is possible because there is some gap between your gums and your bridges. We will show you how to use a special device to clean out these foodstuffs and keep your mouth healthy and clean. This device is called the Waterpik water flosser and it combines water pressure with pulsating action to massage your gums while cleaning out debris and plaque from hard to reach areas of the mouth. This is perfect for those who with braces, bridges, crowns or implants.

Can I start following my regular diet right after the All-on-4 technique® procedure?

The bridge that we give you during the All-on-4 technique is so resilient that you can usually start eating your regular food as soon as the procedure is completed. However, for most patients there may be some restrictions depending on their bone density and the torque that Dr. Hagi is able to achieve with the implants, so that we don’t risk implant movement. After the procedure is done, Dr. Hagi will give you detailed instructions on what you can and cannot do and this includes your diet too. Feel free to call us if you have any questions after you return home.

How can I be sure that my bite will be perfect after the implants?

When you come in for All-on-4 treatment at the Thornhill Smile Centre, you can leave all these worries to us. We do not just depend on your ‘feel’ for achieving the perfect bite that can give you the most natural experience and sensation when you start using your implants after the procedure. Apart from the use of articulating paper to determine the points of contact we also use digital techniques to achieve a high degree of precision in identifying occlusal interferences. It allows us to quickly pinpoint mismatched areas and remove them so that you can get that perfect bite in moments without having to come back to our clinic for repeated visits.
